Eastwood MP Gloria De Piero has met the first ever head boy and head girl at the town’s Brookhill Leys Primary School.
Staff at the Chewton Street school decided that they would appoint a head boy and head girl to become ambassadors for the school.
Pupils had to apply for the roles by writing down why they wanted the job and what their plans would be if they were successful.
Year 6 pupils Olivia Hartshorn and Bradley Mears were chosen and among their duties are to show visitors round the school and to welcome parents at the upcoming nativity performance.
Deputy head boys and girls have also been appointed and these are Scarlett Charlesworth, Emily Reddish, Shane Eadie and Jack Kirby.
Gloria met them all at the school last Friday and talked to them about their new roles and responsibilities.
Gloria said: “It was a privilege to meet the new head boy and girl and their deputies and to see how seriously they are taking their new duties.
“They will be great ambassadors for Brookhill Leys and I am sure they will set an outstanding example for the other pupils to follow.
“This is another excellent initiative from headteacher Jacquie Sainsbury who has already made so many improvements to this lovely school.”
